Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour – Marangu Route (6 Days)

Overview:

Join us for an exciting 6-day guided hike up Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route, beginning and ending in beautiful Zanzibar.
This popular path offers stunning views, making it an ideal choice for trekkers of all levels. The adventure starts with a convenient
early morning pickup from any hotel in Zanzibar, along with a transfer to Arusha Airport.
Booking early will help secure flights and keep ticket prices low.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Zanzibar – Arusha Airport – Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut

• 5:00 AM: Pickup from your hotel in Zanzibar.
• Transfer to Arusha Airport, arriving by 9:00 AM.
• Continue to Kilimanjaro National Park’s Marangu Gate (approx. 3-hour drive).
• After completing park formalities, begin your hike through the lush rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700m), where you’ll encounter vibrant forest scenery and possibly colobus monkeys.
• Hike duration: 4-5 hours (8 km).
• Overnight at Mandara Hut.

Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut

• After breakfast, continue your hike through beautiful moorland landscapes with views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks en route to Horombo Hut (3,720m).
• Hike duration: 6-7 hours (12 km).
• Overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut

• Spend the day acclimatizing at Horombo Hut, with an optional short hike to Zebra Rocks for breathtaking views, or relax at camp to prepare for the journey ahead.
• Overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut

• Hike through the fascinating alpine desert to reach Kibo Hut (4,700m), where you’ll rest and prepare for the summit attempt.
• Hike duration: 6-7 hours (10 km).
• Overnight at Kibo Hut.

Day 5: Kibo Hut – Summit – Horombo Hut

• Start your summit ascent around midnight to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). After reaching the summit, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing to Horombo Hut.
• Ascent to Uhuru Peak: 7-8 hours (6 km).
• Descent to Horombo Hut: 6-7 hours (16 km).
• Overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 6: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Arusha Airport – Zanzibar

• After breakfast, descend to Marangu Gate where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Return transport will take you back to Arusha Airport for a return flight to Zanzibar.
• Hike duration: 6 hours (20 km).
• Drop-off at your hotel in Zanzibar.
