Misali Island For Snorkeling and Diving
It is surrounded by crystal waters and stunning coral reefs, Misali offers some of the best diving in East Africa, while snorkeling is spectacular and easily reached from the beach. At low tide be ready to watch a mirage of crabs scuttle to shore, making the sand look like it is dancing. Ngezi Forest In Ngezi Forest
The forest consist of coral bushes and thickets, thick grasses and bushes in the sandy-loam soils and Mtifutifu soils; dominant plant species are: Odyendea zimmermanni (Mjoho), riverine forest of Barringtonia racemosa (Mtomondo), Milicia spp (Mvule), Alexandrian laurel (Mtondoo), Erythropholem spp (Mwavi), Antiarus spp (Mgulele), Chrisalidocarpus pembanus. Also there are monkeys, bush babies, fruit bats, all different kinds of birds, flowers, spices and natural lakes. Remnants of an old timber business can also be found in the forest. The forest is an experience for all the senses.
Vumawimbi Beach
Safe and perfect for picnicking and a swimming, a lot of rubbish around short drive from main town, be sure to take plenty of bottled water as you are no where near civilization. A day here is great particularly for young children.
Mkamandume Ruins Mkama Ndume
Ruins at Pujini village is located in Pemba Island. Pujini was official seat of Mohammed bin Abdulrahman who ruled Pemba around 15th century prior to arrival Portugese on the East Coast. Abdulrahman was known Mkame ndume (milker of men) because of his inhuman cruelty and harsh punishment meted out to his people.
Ndagoni Ruins at Ras Mkumbuu
Ras Mkumbuu ruins are located to the northwest of the town of Chake Chake. The ruins mainly date from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, though there are indications that they were built over older foundations. Notable among these ruins are those of a large mosque which was for some time the largest structure of its type in sub-Saharan Africa.
Pemba Flying Fox
Flying Foxes are endemic and endangered fruit eating bat species living in Pemba Island. Our guide was very local and gave us interesting information about these animals. The reserve is situated in a beautiful location between fields and villages. The bats rest in the trees during daytime which is a good opportunity to see them.
Kigomasha Peninsula
This attraction is available at the north tip of Pemba Island,it is a long tower that used for directing for colonial sea vessels from Abroad ( america, Europe ,India and middle East passing there to east Africa and south, indicator shows the sign of the tides for the cargo ship staff .it is 115 years now since built, tourist like to visit there, it is protected area.
